I am Living Light
A New Story about Weight
Ready to quit following dead end weight loss programs that promise quick body weight
reduction? Albert Einstein stated that to change a problem, we must use a different
level of consciousness than the one that brought about the problem in the first place.
That means before we do anything, we need to change our thinking. First: Do NOT
think about becoming lighter as "losing." Living light is a win-
Second: Why are so many people in the world today overweight? It is not just an American phenomenon. Increases in weight are directly related to the number of fast food vendors and the technological advancement of the society. The Price Pottenger Nutritional foundation has been pointing that out for over 50 years and their research is irrefutable.
Obviously factors causing overweight and obesity are complex: food quality, quantity, activity levels and social norms are factors. But are they causes? I offer the possibility that the fattest of us are actually starving. What people are starving for is the key. And if the root cause is not healed, no diet and exercise program will ever fix it.
Consider Scarlet in Gone with the Wind, who declares to the heavens, "With God as my witness, I'll never go hungry again." How many of us are here reincarnated from lives where we were starving? And we are trying to fill the hunger of that starvation! It won't happen with physical food.
Consider the child who was abused and grows to discover that fat is "ugly" and therefore layers him/herself to protect from further abuse. Later this continues as they strive to protect themselves from all sorts of injury or from an adult relationship. What happens when a well meaning instructor tries to help this person lose weight with diet and exercise? It won't be successful for long if at all.
Consider the individual who had parents or siblings that were uncaring or downright cruel. They discovered comfort foods and are still trying to fill the black hole of being unlovable. Or is the black hole unworthiness, or sadness, or feeling lost, or emptiness? No amount of food will fill these black holes of the soul. No amount of exercise will create enough good feelings or burn off the excess intake.
Balancing your lifestyle and finding a healthy weight that you feel comfortable in, will require inner work. This is work of caring for your essential self, the real you that your body carries around.
